Nothing lasts forever, and forever can become a new beginning: You simply have to listen to it!

Originally started as an underground band in Boston, they signed a contract with Universal Music Publishing after the release of their disc "Axiom" in 2018. Just two years later, they released one of their best-known works, "-!-", via Spinefarm Records. "One of a kind", is how Dead Poet Society can be described, tirelessly exploring the boundaries of musical conventions with their own blend of alternative rock and pop, creating a distinctive sound that emphasises their uniqueness in the modern rock scene.

Their new album "Fission" is no exception. Self-confident and above all demanding, Dead Poet Society seem to have found and developed their musical direction. From rock to indie to pop, they present one anthem after another that is not only catchy and captivating, but also emphasises their artistic maturity and versatility. "Fissionthus stands as a powerful testament to the band's continuous evolution and creative ability, inspiring with their style of music and the emotions that resonate in the songs. On the subject of the album, singer Jack explains:

“The past few years have left me in a constant state of growth through the life events of which
I’ve had little control, or which didn’t pan out the way I wanted them to. There’s a ‘before’ you, and an ‘after’ you, and there’s no going back. Life tends to force your hand, and it’s futile to fight it. You have to accept that things that happen to you will change you, and let them build you into the next phase of who you are. There is a constant battle to not mourn who I was, because the things you go through define you as a person and turn you into a person worth being. But that can be difficult to wrestle with. There is a positive to it, but it is birthed through a lot of pain.”

This is particularly evident in songs like "81 Tonnes", which is also one of my favourites on the album. It is a song in which feelings such as despair and anger are conveyed through the music. From slow to fast, from loud to quiet: Changing tempos take the momentum out without losing the tension and symbolise the dichotomy between giving up and the compulsion to carry on.We often find this kind of excessive demand in everyday life when we know that we have to function, even though we simply want to switch off. "81 Tonnes" is therefore a song that really gets under your skin and, like the other songs, leaves room for interpretation.

“We hone in on a feeling, rather than a sound", says Jack“This album is the defining moment of when we truly became Dead Poet Society . It’s the closest we’ve come to
realising the essence of the ideas we’ve always had for this band.”

With this album Dead Poet Society has not only given their sound a clear voice and provided listeners with an identifiable and energetic album, but also sent a clear message to our magazine that rock is far from dead. "Fission" combines everything that makes a good album and makes us look forward all the more to their upcoming tour in March.

Tickets are available here.

A clear recommendation from us - listen in, it's worth it!

Lila is out, be the beat with you!

One of the most captivating rock acts of our time releases its second album tomorrow, and we couldn't be more excited to choose it as our first Album Of The Month this year.
