This is Goldfinger
Hi and welcome to Lila's news!
Sun, good mood, something cool to drink and a newly compiled playlist... what more do you need to work relaxed on a review on a Monday.
The wonderful story of the band we're writing about today began in Los Angeles in 1994 when John Feldmann, Simon Wiliams, Charlie Paulson and Darrin Pfeiffer a.k.a. "Dangerous" decided to form the band Goldfinger to form. A short time later (1996) the guys released the eponymous debut album "Goldfinger". Brimming with a mixture of punk and ska, their first hit "Here in your Bedroom" immediately stormed the American college and indie charts.
Time passed and the band released their third album "Stomping Ground" four years later. Much to the delight of German fans, this album featured a cover of Nena! The guys from Goldfinger had taken up the classic "99 Luftballons" anew and interpreted it in their very own way.
Not only did the fans like the song, but film and television also made use of the remake of the classic. "99 Luftballons" was featured in films like "Not Another Teen Movie" and "Eurotrip" as well as in the well-known video game "Gran Turismo".
After a long absence of albums, their album "The Knife" came out in 2017, long awaited by fans. Already since 2013 rumors about a possible EP or a new album circulated again and again.
2015 gave John the following statement on this:
„We’ll probably release a song or two but I don’t know if we’re going to release albums anymore. We play the same songs we’ve always done.“
But not only in the music scene are Goldfinger active. Already since their beginnings, the band stands up for the rights of animals. So the guys donated the song "What Gives You The Right" to the Southern Animal Rights Coalition Benefits CD "Until Every Cage is Empty" and criticized the imprisonment of animal rights activist Kevin Kjonaas at the time with their song "Free Kevin Kjonaas."
Our studio is now turning up the music and if you haven't listened to Goldfinger yet... you should do so urgently.
