Neutral Snap present their new EP "I Hardly Know Her" this Friday - Our "Album of the Month"

Hi and welcome to Lila's review!

We've missed them, haven't you? Those summers when pop punk blasts out of every speaker, with catchy choruses that you sing along to out loud in the car. Songs that work like little time capsules, capturing feelings or giving them a break. They had gone quiet, but now they're back with the new EP from Neutral Snap.

Neutral Snap is a pop punk band from New Orleans, whose EP "I Hardly Know Her" revives exactly this missing feeling. The band delivers a sound that seems nostalgic but still sounds fresh. Instead of merely repeating well-known formulas, they focus on musical dynamics, changing rhythms, harmonic diversity and an emotional depth that sticks with you. The result is a modern approach to the genre with a strong nod to the past.

Songs like "Waltz" stand out in particular. The track surprises when it picks up the tempo after the chorus and takes a new, energetic direction. The emotional finale "Pat Your Own Back" doesn't disappoint either. On the contrary: with its honest and raw tone, it gives the EP's conclusion an unexpected impact. Thematically, the songs revolve around romantic relationships, suppressed emotions, and the familiar chaos that often accompanies interpersonal connections. All wrapped up in a sound that not only appeals to the ear but also gets right under your skin.

Neutral Snap didn't set out on their new EP alone. Support comes from none other than Tom Denney (A Day to Remember) and Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday, Say Anything, The Color Fred), who contributed to the songwriting. Tom Denney contributed his signature style to the track "Danny ACOG", while Fred Mascherino and Rob Freeman (Hidden in Plain View) were involved in "Waltz". The latter also contributed to "Pat Your Own Back". High-caliber help that not only shows the way, but also refines the band's existing talent.

If you listen to the EP on Friday, August 8, you might find it hard to let it go. We couldn't either: that's why we've chosen "I Hardly Know Her" by Neutral Snap as our "Album of the Month" for August.
