This is Apocalyptica
Hello my Immortals and welcome to Lila's review!
After a busy and nerve-racking day, our editorial team sat together and let the day end with a little music. As the song "My Immortal" boomed through the speakers, I immediately thought of you and considered what music would be suitable for a good start to the new week. So I looked in my playlists for a band that meets the high musical requirements for a good start into the week.
My choice fell on Apocalyptica.
"Turn your passion into a career" .... probably everyone has heard from their parents. The guys from Apocalyptica have probably taken this to heart! Coming from Helsinki are Apocalyptica are probably the other export hit and have been around since 1993. With the idea of covering songs by their favorite band Metallica, Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Max Lilja and Antero Manninen got together and founded Apocalyptica.
In 1996, the guys released their album "Apocalyptica plays Metallica by four Cellos" and sold 350,000 copies worldwide. That my Immortals, was the BIRTH of cello - rock.
But the guys covered not only songs from Metallica, but also from greats like Faith no More or Slayer. At the same time they wrote their own songs, which they recorded together with singers like Corey Taylor from Slipknot or lead singer Till Lindemann from Rammstein.
While the guys toured around the world and released album after album, they quickly realized that recording their songs with guest singers was very interesting but could not be the right solution in the long run. So the band decided to hire Franky Perez as the lead singer for their eighth album "Shadowmaker" and it was a success! The concept worked so well that they decided shortly after to make the guest appearance a permanent feature and Franky as a constant singer to sign.
Apocalyptica has probably already circumnavigated the globe in their performances, appearing at festivals such as Wacken or Download and had a guest appearance at the Eurovision Songcontest where they performed during the break.
Our studio is now resting a bit and put the feet up. Have a nice start of the week!
