Kadavar between rock tradition and sonic renewal - their new album “I Just Want To be A Sound” is released this Friday

Hi and welcome to Lila's review!

“I just want to be a sound”, said bassist Simon - a sentence, spoken almost casually, which in its simplicity turned out to be a creative catalyst. This statement became more than just a thought: it became the programmatic guideline for the new album by Berlin band Kadavar, which will be released this Friday under this very title.Kadavar between rock tradition and sonic renewal - their new album “I Just Want To be A Sound” will be released this Friday.

Kadavar, founded in the German capital in 2010, has long been more than just an insider tip in the psychedelic rock scene. Over the years, the band has created its very own world of sound that is always on the move. Their sound is progressive, experimental and never one-dimensional - a musical journey that ranges from classic 70s rock influences to spherical, electronic soundscapes.

Kadavar are now opening a new chapter with “I Just Want to Be a Sound”. The album is a conceptual work that weaves a common thread not only thematically but also sonically. Each track seems like a fragment of a larger whole, which comes together to form an atmospheric mosaic of sound textures, melodies and rhythms. Less fuzzy, less retro, but much more spherical and airy - almost meditative.

And yet the rock remains present. The sound is still driving, raw and honest - but more modern, clearer and with more room for emotion. Kadavar open themselves up to a more melodic, almost summery, light alternative rock that is perfect for open windows and warm nights. It is an album that surrenders to the moment and yet remains profound.

Despite this stylistic reorientation, the band remains true to its roots. Kadavar's signature is unmistakable, even if the colors on their palette are mixed differently today. It is an evolution, not a break. The new album feels like a deliberate step away from nostalgic distortion and towards a sonic openness that is not afraid to push boundaries - without ever pandering.

“I Just Want to Be a Sound” is not just an album. It is a vision of sound that shows how much more music can be than structured composition. It is an attitude to life, a state, an idea. With this work, Kadavar invite you to let go, to immerse yourself - and perhaps even just to be a sound for a moment.
