Matt Andersen returns in November - and brings Terra Lightfoot with him
Hi and welcome to Lila's news!
If music has a soul - then Matt Andersen has several of them. The Canadian singer-songwriter is finally returning to European stages in November. He has his brand new album "The Hammer & The Rose" in his luggage, plenty of emotion and a support act in Terra Lightfoot, who will provide earthy rock and soul power.
But before Matt warms the hearts of German blues rock fans in the fall, he will be making a special festival appearance at the Tønder Festival in Denmark on August 27.
If you want to see him live, you should mark these dates in your diary:
Nov. 19 - Dresden, Jazzclub Tonne
Nov. 21 - Darmstadt, Centralstation
Nov. 23 - Cologne, Building 9
Nov. 24 - Berlin, Passionskirche
Nov. 25 - Hamburg, Fabrik
Nov. 26 - Utrecht (NL), Tivoli Vredenburg
Matt Andersen is not one to strike a pose. He takes to the stage with the calmness of an old friend - and plays his way straight into the soul of his audience with his unmistakable blend of blues, soul and folk. His new album "The Hammer & The Rose" is a prime example of what he is all about: strong stories, even stronger vocals - and that deft touch on the guitar that takes your breath away. The last song on the album, "Always Be Your Son", is an emotional declaration of love to his father. "I got some of my best qualities from my father. It felt right to put this into words", says Matt himself - and hits you right in the heart.
For those who can't wait until November: On June 15, North American Father's Day, Matt will be giving a special livestream concert on his YouTube channel (starting at 9 p.m. CEST). It's all about fathers - and a good cause: viewers are asked to donate to Brigadoon Village, a camp that cares for children with chronic illnesses and special needs.
Anyone looking for real, handmade music with depth should not miss this tour. And anyone who has ever seen him live knows that this is more than just a concert - it's an experience.
