When metal meets anime: Within Destruction release new album “ANIMETAL”
On behalf of Asgard, I greet you!
Hi, it's Thor here.
Today it's all about Within Destruction's album “ANIMETAL”, which will be released on Friday. The band from Slovenia, active since 2010, delivers a work that seems to be written equally for fans of hard music and anime culture - a rarely successful combination that stands out. Like a sharp double-bladed spear, this album strikes at the heart of two worlds simultaneously: that of metal and that of Japanese pop culture.
Musically, “ANIMETAL” moves confidently between deathcore, metalcore and electronic sounds, interspersed with quotes and soundscapes that could have come straight from the world of anime. The sound is powerful, technically clean and surprisingly atmospheric at the same time. The coordination between frontman and guitarist is on point. The changes between growls, screams and clean passages are fluid and precise. The interplay between drums and guitar also contributes a lot to the dynamics of the album - as if thunder and storm complement each other perfectly.
The track “CYBERGIRL” is a special moment for me. The song has a certain drama that sticks with you. Between harshness and emotion, between chaos and structure - it's precisely this tension that makes it strong. It feels like the emotional core of the album. “CYBERGIRL” is like a gathering storm over a battle - dark, powerful and full of energy.
Something else that makes “ANIMETAL” special are the guitar solos, which don't just get lost in speed or technique, but show real expressiveness. They seem well thought out, almost soulful - as if the sound is beating through your chest for a brief moment before the next breakdown breaks in. The anime elements never seem artificial, but are cleverly embedded in the overall picture. This is not about stylistic devices, but about a genuine connection between two worlds. And that makes the album interesting - not only in terms of sound, but also conceptually.
“ANIMETAL” is sure to leave its mark on the scene. Within Destruction boldly move forward without losing touch with their roots. For those looking for heaviness, creativity and a touch of fantasy in their music, this album is more than just a new release - it's a statement.
And this is what it sounds like when a band crosses the Bifröst and hits the heart of the metal world with full force. I'm curious to see which path Within Destruction will take next. If “ANIMETAL” is a foretaste of things to come, then we have a lot to look forward to.
