In The Groove Bar with Mähtrasher

Sober Truth

Sober Truth und Mähtrasher Album Release Konzert in Köln 2025

On behalf of Asgard, I greet you!

Hi, this is Thor - and I'm here to talk to you about an evening in Cologne's Groove Bar that hit like a war horn in battle: loud, honest and powerful.

The journey there was relaxed, like a calm harbinger before the storm. As soon as we arrived at the Groove Bar, it was clear that today was going to be loud, honest and close. Outside the entrance, there were not only numerous fans, but also the two bands of the evening - Sober Truth and Mähtrasher - standing casually among the crowd. They talked, drank and laughed with their fans. This down-to-earth attitude lent the evening an almost familiar atmosphere that is rarely experienced at concerts.

Mähtrasher opened the evening with plenty of energy. The two guitarists delivered an impressive performance, were focused, well-rehearsed and deep in their element. The singer Danny in particular stood out - with a strong stage presence and a direct connection to the audience, he kept the atmosphere going. He managed to get the crowd involved and get them moving in front of the stage without it seeming contrived. You could feel that this was someone who loves what he does.

After the changeover, it was time for Sober Truth, and what followed was a powerful set with a clear line, musical precision and a lot of passion. The band seemed well-rehearsed, focused and with a very well-mixed sound right from the start.

Special mention should be made of the new guitarist Nils, who was not only technically convincing, but also set accents with his playing that stuck - almost as if he was sending a bolt of lightning through the room with every note. The frontman Torsten was not only convincing with his voice, but also with his double function on the guitar. Pulling off this combination live without losing expression or power is an achievement that has to be appreciated. Bassist Jules provided a stable foundation with her deep riffs and came across as confident and present.

A special moment was the part of the concert in which the drummer Adrian took over the vocals while someone else sat down on the drums. For two songs, he stood at the mic and growled his way through the songs with brutal energy.

The surprise was a success, the effect was intense - authentic, loud and full of power. Torsten then took over again and the concert continued on its powerful path. When the set was officially over, the audience did not let up. The calls for an encore echoed through the room like battle cries on the battlefield, and of course it came - loud, deserved and full of energy.

What made the evening special was not just the musical performance, but the togetherness. Both bands sought contact with the fans even after the last song, stayed, talked, drank with the people. No airs and graces, no distance - just honest music, genuine passion and a feeling of community, which is what you want at such events.

An evening that didn't get lost in effects, but impressed with its quality, closeness and power. Sober Truth and Mähtrasher delivered a concert that wasn't just loud - it had soul, pressure and that special moment when music and audience become one. Anyone who was there knows that this was no ordinary gig. It was an evening that deserved Odin's blessing.
