Columbus unveil summer soundtrack "A Hot Take On Heartbreak" + New album
It's hot..... And welcome to Lila's review!
Summer at last! Okay, almost... Anyway, most people are already starting to vegetate in the sweltering heat. This summer, my Immortals, will be your summer, because we're going to introduce you to one of our top three albums that you shouldn't miss at the hottest time of year. So grab a cool drink, maybe a fan (a paper fan will do in a pinch) and read along carefully...
... Where do we start? The good piece bears the name "A Hot Take On Heartbreak" from Columbus and is 11 tracks long. The guys have been around for about six years and hail from beautiful Australia. Columbus is a band that doesn't just stick to one genre, but simply does what it feels like doing. For example, the first record "Spring Forever" as very punk-heavy, while their latest record is more rock-oriented. Always trying something new and doing what makes you happy, that's music. Singer/guitarist says Alex Moses following:
"With Spring Forever, we went into the studio and did exactly what we wanted to do. But after we toured with that record and it was time to make a new record, we realized that the music we wanted to play was completely different. We didn't want to be a pop-punk band anymore. We didn't even want to be a punk band anymore. We wanted people to know us as a rock band."
Perfect for the start of summer, is "A Hot Take On Heartbreak" a fresh and varied album that delivers a firework of melodic sounds in the finest rock style. It simply has it all. From sensitive tracks like "Feel This Way" to banging and above all catchy songs like "Cut It Out". Columbus transports a unique summer feeling that you shouldn't miss.... Absolute buy recommendation!
The guys will soon be on tour in Australia and will be visiting Sydney, among other places. Of course we'll let you know as soon as the band comes to Germany and when they do, maybe we'll stop by too 😉
Our magazine is definitely enthusiastic about "A Hot Take On Heartbreak" and is definitely one of our top three this summer. For now, we're throwing "Don't Know How To Act" and wish you a great start into the new week.....!
