Dying Wish present brand new album "Flesh Stays Together" this Friday

Hi and welcome to Lila's review!

"Flesh Stays Together" is a tribute to the band's own strength: for persevering, for staying together, even in difficult times. But maybe it's also a call to the fans who have managed to stay afloat in this tough world. Dying Wish are releasing their brand new album this Friday, which I would like to present to you in detail today.

Dying Wish is a metal and hardcore band from Portland. For those who don't know them yet: It's one of the few metal bands with a front woman who both sings and screams. Singer Emma's voice is probably what makes their sound special. Even in melodic passages, she manages to capture the listener. At the same time, it is perhaps this changeable sound that makes Dying Wish an insider tip - somewhere between metalcore, deathcore and hardcore punk.

This versatility is also reflected in their melodies and gives the songs an emotional depth that makes the new album sound so vulnerable. Intense, raw and full of feeling, listening to the album gives the impression that the band really understands you. That they express emotions, even the dark ones:

“Flesh Stays Together is a discovery, a journey of grief and a statement. Together we face the most unacceptable conditions in our lifetimes. Every tragedy becomes our own yet we have never been more separated. Flesh is a vicious wake up call. Slowly and painfully we approach the end we deserve.” - Emma

It is an album about pain, despair and recurring tragedies that ultimately raises the question: Where do I belong? The music underlines this dichotomy through changing melodies, vocal and scream passages. You are immersed in a dark mood, which opens up a world of its own in "Revenge in Carnage", for example, and is broken again in "Nothing Like You", when Emma's bright voice fills the room almost without instrumental accompaniment and brings you back.

With "Flesh Stays Together", Dying Wish present an album that doesn't sugarcoat anything, but rather shakes things up and accepts them at the same time. A strong release that also stands out musically. Save the date & be sure to check it out on Friday! If you want to see the band live, don't miss their tour with Malevolence, Speed and PSYCHO-FRAME in November. You can find tickets here.
