Franky Perez announces new album "Crossing The Great Divide

Singer-songwriter Franky Perez today confirms his fifth solo album, Crossing the Great Divide, will be released June 24 via Black Sea Music - you can pre-order the album HERE . With Crossing the Great Divide, Perez returns to his roots and tells a story of self-transformation. The album is full of great melodies, hooks and feelings that are genuine and often autobiographical (following statements are translated meaningfully). „Jeder Künstler sagt: ‚Das ist mein bestes Album‘, aber das hier war wahrscheinlich die beste Erfahrung, die ich bei der Produktion eines Albums gemacht habe, und die ehrlichste“, so Perez.

Viele der Songs entstanden auf seiner Motorradtour quer durch die USA, die in einem neuen Dokumentarfilm festgehalten wurde. Die Doku zeigt Perez‘ musikalische Reisen während des Lockdowns, seine häufigen Stopps unterwegs, um für das Gesundheitspersonal und die Patienten zu spielen, und seine Begegnungen mit Musikerkollegen und Freunden wie Billy Gibbons von ZZ Top, Country-Sänger Randy Travis und Komiker Bill Burr. „Dieses Projekt ist größer als ich selbst, und jeder, der es sich ansieht, versteht das“, sagt Perez. „Obwohl es auf dem Höhepunkt der Pandemie gedreht wurde, hat es sich in etwas anderes verwandelt. Es ist ein Dokumentarfilm über Menschlichkeit und Hoffnung, und Covid ist nur ein Teil der Geschichte.“

Die neue Platte zeigt die ganze Bandbreite von Perez‘ vielen Talenten als Songwriter und Multiinstrumentalist, denn er hat fast alles selbst darauf gespielt. „Das ist etwas, worauf ich wirklich stolz bin“, sagt er. „Ich habe wahrscheinlich 90 % der Instrumente auf dem Album gespielt und es selbst aufgenommen und produziert. Wenn ich das Gefühl hatte, dass ich ein bestimmtes Gefühl nicht hinbekomme, habe ich mich an den entsprechenden Musiker gewandt, um es zu erreichen.“

Singer/songwriter Perez has collaborated with artists such as Billy Gibbons and Joe Cocker, Darius Rucker and Ringo Starr, and has performed with Steven Tyler, Cody Jinks, Chris Janson and Slash. Over the course of his career, Perez has released four critically acclaimed solo albums and his music has been featured on six seasons of Sons of Anarchy. He has performed at major events, charity functions and music festivals around the world. As lead singer of Apocalyptica, he will be touring the U.S. and Canada beginning April 7.
