Franky Perez announces new album "Crossing The Great Divide"

Singer-songwriter Franky Perez today confirms his fifth solo album, Crossing the Great Divide, will be released June 24 via Black Sea Music - you can pre-order the album HERE . The track "The Great Divide. and accompanying video featuring Apocalyptica cellist Eicca Toppinen and drummer Matt Chamberlain (Bob Dylan, Brandi Carlile, Fiona Apple, Bruce Springsteen) are available now - HERE to listen/watch/share.

With Crossing the Great Divide, Perez returns to his roots and tells a story of self-transformation. The album is full of great melodies, hooks and feelings that are genuine and often autobiographical (following statements are translated meaningfully). "Every artist says, 'This is my best album,' but this was probably the best experience I've had producing an album, and the most honest," Perez said.

Many of the songs were written on his motorcycle tour across the U.S., which has been captured in a new documentary. The documentary features Perez's musical travels during the lockdown, his frequent stops along the way to play for health care workers and patients, and his encounters with fellow musicians and friends such as Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, country singer Randy Travis and comedian Bill Burr. "This project is bigger than myself, and anyone who watches it understands that," Perez says. "Even though it was shot at the height of the pandemic, it has morphed into something else. It's a documentary about humanity and hope, and Covid is just part of the story."

The new record shows the full range of Perez's many talents as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, as he played almost everything on it himself. "That's something I'm really proud of," he says. "I probably played 90% of the instruments on the album and recorded and produced it myself. If I felt like I couldn't get a certain feel right, I'd turn to the appropriate musician to get it right."

Singer/songwriter Perez has collaborated with artists such as Billy Gibbons and Joe Cocker, Darius Rucker and Ringo Starr, and has performed with Steven Tyler, Cody Jinks, Chris Janson and Slash. Over the course of his career, Perez has released four critically acclaimed solo albums and his music has been featured on six seasons of Sons of Anarchy. He has performed at major events, charity functions and music festivals around the world. As lead singer of Apocalyptica, he will be touring the U.S. and Canada beginning April 7.
