Hyro The Hero collaborates with Atreyu on his latest track "Legendary" and announces new mixtape "Kids against the monsters"
Hyro The Hero, who is known for his fusion of rock and rap, last week released his new single "Legendary" which was created in collaboration with the metalcore band Atreyu. With lyrics like "Now look what I have become/ I'm a legend living in the present/ You are witnessing perfection/ You should feel blessed in my presence", the track forms an uncompromising statement about one's self-confidence. Written by Hyro, Matt Good, Brandon Saller (lead singer of Atreyu), Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel the song continues Hyro's unique musical journey. "Legendary" blends genres, pays tribute to his Houston, TX roots, and expands on his ever-growing love for rock music. The song is available now to stream or download HERE .
"Legendary" marks the first release from the recently announced mixtape KIDS AGAINST THE MONSTERS. Hyro shared the idea behind it last week in the form of a very personal statements via Knotfest. In it, he explains how he was introduced to the idea of the mixtape while growing up in Houston and how sacred this concept is within the hip-hop community as a way to get your music heard. Even though he was emotionally drawn towards rock music, this ideology is still deeply embedded in his DNA. KIDS AGAINST THE MONSTERS is a nuanced work of thoughtful storytelling that paints a picture of frustration, fear and anger about the current state of the world. With insightful lyrics and aggressive instrumentals, the project channels the "in your face" attitude of old school rap and the emotional rawness of 90s grunge. Under the pressure of the pandemic, a spotlight has been cast on the "monsters" that dwell among us: Racism, social inequality and political division fueled by fear, anger and mistrust. In the face of these, incomparable times for the world, Hyro wants to try to bring people back together with his music. Armed with his signature smile and a unique blend of musical influences, he is gathering a group of iconic artists around him to take on this mission together. KIDS AGAINST THE MONSTERS is a collection of songs that portray situation that people are currently facing. The project is a call to all "kids" to start a new movement and face the "monsters" of our time. In the coming weeks and months there will be a series of interviews about this, going deeper into the project and the inspiration behind each track. As part of this, a number of guests who will be featured on the mixtape will also be introduced.
Hyro the Hero on the new song: "'Legendary' is a look into the life and emotional world of a champion. I wanted to express how it feels in my mind to have such an impact on the world and be considered a legend. I am overjoyed that Atreyu was able to contribute their part to the song and that Brandon was able to add his great vocals. They've been in the business for years and pack a real "legendary" punch to the song."
Brandon Saller adds: "About seven years ago, a good friend, Fred Archambault, first put Hyro on my radar. Since then, I've kept an eye on what he's doing. Last summer we went to Disrupt Festival with him and he completely blew me away with his show. His energy was incredible and we hit it off right away. When the opportunity came up to record a track with him, I didn't hesitate. This song has such a great atmosphere and so much power. I'm glad to be a part of it."
