Pierce The Veil release "The Jaws Of Life" on 10 February + Our "Album Of The Month"

Hi and welcome to Lila's review!

No other band has shaped the post-hardcore genre like Pierce The Veil, which accompanies millions of fans through their daily lives. Now they can look forward to a new album, "The Jaws Of Life, which will be released on 10 February.

Our "Album Of The Month.

Pierce The Veil is one of those bands we like to wait for an album. The band prefers to put more time and energy into a work instead of releasing one every year. The success of the recipe is shown by songs like "King For A Day", with which they created an anthem that reached the whole world on social media even ten years after the release and platinum award of the corresponding album "Collide With The Sky". Both "Collide With The Sky" and the following work "Misadventures" landed at No. 1 on the Billboard charts after their release, of which "The Jaws Of Life" should be no exception.

"The Jaws Of Life" is energetic, emotional and combines a progressive dynamic with melancholic choruses that speak from the soul. Pierce The Veil has remained true to itself in this album and combines their distinctive sound with modern elements as well as influences from their roots, as you can already hear in the first song "Death Of An Executioner" . There is such a tragedy in the songs that plunges into an engulfing chaos and leaves the listener sitting spellbound in front of the speaker, wondering what will happen next?

It remains exciting in any case, even if you listen to the record several times. Post-hardcore meets 90s grunge here, which the lyrics transport honestly and unadorned. Topics such as despair, fear or love are not left out here and sometimes receive entire songs, such as the single "Emergency Contact, as Vic tells about it:

“There’s so much desperation underlying the lyrics of this song. It talks about a relationship where one person is ready to take things to the next level while the other is still unsure. One person is begging the other to either move forward or to let them out because being stuck in the middle is torture. I wrote this song in Seattle at Mike Herrera from MXPX’s home studio. He let me live there for a couple of months while working on the record. I love writing in Seattle because it gives me all of the ’90s grunge rock vibes. Plus, it rains all the time, and I love the rain.”

This album feels like that a bit, too. Like standing in the rain and looking at all the memories from the past, while remembering that after the rain comes the sun. For those who are still standing in the rain, Pierce The Veil has created an album that conveys compassion in difficult times. Vic continues to talk about the making of the album:

“This album has truly brought us closer than we’ve ever been. It was extremely difficult for us to be off the road and apart for so long. We’ve never missed anything more than playing music together and never had such an strong appreciation for recording, touring, and simply being in the same room together than we do now. The Jaws of Life is about how life can sink its teeth into you and try to devour you. The negativity in the world and within your mind can be a vicious thing. We’re extremely grateful for this record, our fans, and the opportunity to play live music again.”

In March, Pierce The Veil are coming on tour in Germany and will also play these and many other songs live, where classics will certainly not be left out. Click here for tickets.

Our magazine is really impressed by "The Jaws Of Life" and is happy to see that Pierce The Veil continuously go their way as one of the most influential bands of their genre. Not only have they created another musically themed album with this one, but they have also shown once again that their music continues to go beyond their own band
